Bosques bonsai (bonsai forest)

In this post I want to tell you some very basic rules for growing a forest of bonsai:

•The first, is a good choice of plant species. are suitable, hornbeam, maple from Japan, the Triffids and liquidambar among others. It is also important not to mix species in the same pot.
• Distribution: Always put an odd number of trees unless they are many and really can not see if they are in pairs or not. Avoid trees that are aligned in a row. Avoid planting trees on the corner of the pot, that's why we often use oval pots.
• Location: The smaller trees should be located in front and sides, so that it doesn't look decompensate.

Otro manzano (An other apple tree)

As you might remember, last spring I planted a Fuji apple tree. This last week I planted an other variety of apple tree, this one is Golden. What I'm trying to achieve is a bigger production and better quality. Apple trees are capable of autopollinate them selves, but having more varieties and a crossed pollination is better for the trees.

El huerto en otoño (The garden in autumn)

Although autumn has arrived, tomatoes and other plants that need heat to grow are still going on. They don't look as good as a month ago and the production is very low, yet we continue seeing flowers and fruits. I wanted to show how they are before they wilt.

These are the tomatoes, they take longer to mature because of lack of sunshine, but still have a spectacularly green colour. And flowers keep coming, so I hope they last for a couple of weeks more.

Esta es la flor del pimento. Pequeña pero muy bonita.
This is the flower of the pepper. Small but very pretty.

 Los pepinos continúan brotando.
Cucumbers continue to sprout.

Here I show the same flower of the courgette, photographed on Saturday and Sunday. Even being half-dead, the flowers come out really hard.

To take good care of your trees you will need some basic tools. They are usually a bit expensive, so you can substitute them for cheaper tools to do the same function. I will show the names of the tools and drawings of them with a small definition so you can let your imagination fly and make your self with a good tool kit.

• Pruning shears: There are various sizes depending on the thickness of the branches. The thinner and more hidden they are, the longer the handle of the scissors will have to be.
• Leaf Scissors: For cutting the leaves at the defoliation season.
• Molders: To empty the desired parts of the tree, either knots or the crust.
• Pliers: for pruning thick branches.
• Pallet and rake: to release the compact roots when transplanting.
• Copper Brush: To clean the thrones of moss, etc. There are also different sizes depending on usage.
• Benders: To change the shape of the trunk.
• Gouges: used to model the tree making grooves in the trunk to make it look older.
• Wire: To shape the branches with wire wrapping. There are also different diameters depending on the thickness of the branch.
